About The Author

Exploring faith through fiction.

Hi, my name is Philip Rendell, and I’m a Christian author.

I believes stories have the power to reveal truth, inspire hope, and remind us that redemption is never out of reach.

My aim is to tell stories that people can relate to, stories that explore the challenges of life, love, and faith. They can help readers reflect on how God meets us in those struggles.

Writing, for me, is more than just a creative outlet, it’s a calling. Through my novels, I hope to shine a light on the beauty of grace, the weight of forgiveness, and the quiet strength that comes from trusting God even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

Whether it’s through heartfelt Christian fiction like The Battle Unseen series or suspenseful stories of trusting God like Beyond Suspicion, every book I write points back to one simple truth, God’s love and grace is relentless, and His redemption reaches even the most broken places.

My Writing Journey

My journey as a writer began long before I ever called myself an author.
I’ve always been drawn to stories—books, songs, TV shows, movies—it didn’t matter what form they took. I didn’t care about flashy effects or production value; if it had a good story, that’s all I needed.

When I was younger, I enjoyed creative writing, but being an author was never something I seriously considered. The truth is, I kind of stumbled into writing my first manuscript. I was in my mid-30s when I finished reading This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti for the fourth time.
Inspired by that story, I found myself wanting to write something similar—but from a purely human perspective. While Peretti’s novel explored the unseen spiritual battles between angels and demons, I wanted to tell a story about the unseen battles that happen within us. That’s when the title The Battle Unseen first came to mind, though I didn’t start writing right away.

A few weeks later, while playing video games, a story started to form in my mind. To my surprise, it was interesting enough that I couldn’t stop thinking about it. That night, when I tried to sleep, my mind wouldn’t stop replaying the story. Finally, I got up, sat down at my computer, and wrote out the first few pages just to quiet my thoughts. Four pages later, my mind was finally still, and I could rest. This pattern continued for months—late-night bursts of writing whenever the story refused to leave me alone. Then, after 130 pages and 13 chapters, it suddenly stopped. I set the story aside and forgot about it.

It wasn’t until September 2020 that, out of nowhere, I felt a strong urge to write again. I found my old manuscript and started reading it—and it was terrible. So much “Christianese” that even I struggled to get through it. Wanting honest feedback, I joined a writing community called ChristianWriters.com. I posted my first chapter and, as expected, the critiques were honest—but encouraging. With their help, I rewrote the opening, producing two new chapters that changed the entire direction of the story. Those became the foundation for what eventually grew into my first novel.

I finished the first draft of The Battle Unseen in January 2022. Still amazed that I had written an actual book, I set it aside for four months before beginning the editing process. But even while editing, I found that the desire to write hadn’t faded. After a few conversations with a fellow writer, I began drafting what would become my second book. By that point, I was hooked. Writing had become part of who I was. Over time, I completed three manuscripts (all currently in editing) and began planning several more. Eventually, my first book became The Battle for Love, the opening story in what would become The Battle Unseen Series.

As I’ve grown older, my interest in storytelling has deepened. I’ve become drawn to stories that wrestle with real questions about life, identity, and faith. Once I started writing, those questions became the foundation for my stories—narratives about ordinary people encountering an extraordinary God.

What began as a few scattered ideas slowly became
The Battle Unseen series—a collection of stories about forgiveness, faith, and the unseen battles of the heart. Each book reflects something deeply personal: moments of doubt, discovery, and grace that mirror the walk of faith we all share.

Writing has taught me that God doesn’t waste a single struggle. Every word, every season, every story becomes a testament to His purpose.

Current Projects

I’m currently working on multiple creative projects, each exploring faith through different forms of storytelling:

  • The Battle Unseen Series — a collection of faith-driven novels that explore how love and grace transform even the darkest situations.
  • The Battle Within Series — a companion journey focused on redemption, healing, and discovering who we are in Christ.
  • Beyond Suspicion — a standalone Christian suspense novel about truth, integrity, and the cost of doing what’s right when the world turns against you.
  • The Hand-Painted Box — a heartwarming children’s story designed to share simple truths about learning how to young readers can understand and cherish.
  • Chasing Outcasts — a fictional Christian rock band brought to life through real music. Each song carries a message of faith, hope, and perseverance, reflecting the same spiritual heartbeat found in my books.

Across all these stories — whether told through words or music — the goal remains the same: to glorify God and reach those who need a reminder that they are never beyond His love.

Beyond Writing

When I’m not crafting stories, I’m often spend time on a variety of other activities. These activies include, watching movies and TV Shows, playing video games, writing songs,, or exploring creative projects that combine art and storytelling.

I believe that creativity itself is a reflection of God’s nature. A way to share beauty, truth, and emotion in every medium.

Outside of creative work, I enjoy quiet moments of listening to music, prayer, reading my Bible, and time in reflection. I try to find inspiration in the simple things that remind me of God’s goodness and glory.

My favorite verse, Proverbs 3:5–6, continues to guide both my life and my work:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
