About the book.
“The Battle For Identity” – Book 3 in The Battle Unseen series
What do you do when a revelation shakes the foundation of who you are?
That’s the question Simon must face after a long-buried secret comes to light—one that changes everything he thought he knew about himself. As he reconnects with his estranged mother, he begins to wrestle with his identity—not just as a son, but as a man, a husband, and a father-to-be.
Now, two and a half years after their joyous engagement, Simon and Alice are married and expecting their first child. While the approaching birth brings both excitement and nervousness, they are both facing the challenge of shifting identities.
Alice, confident in her ability to navigate the world without sight, now wonders what kind of mother she’ll be to a child who sees a world she never will.
Simon carries his own uncertainties. Raised by a father who was angry, unpredictable, and broken by addiction, he’s haunted by the fear of repeating that legacy. With the weight of the past behind him and a life-changing truth before him, he wonders: what kind of father can he become?
As their lives are shaped by the weight of change, and events unfold that neither of them could predict, Simon and Alice must once again learn what it means to walk by faith—not by sight.
Will Simon be defined by the man who raised him—or the truth of who he is in Christ?
Can Alice believe that God has equipped her for more than she can see?
And when everything feels uncertain, can they hold fast to the One who never changes?
The journey ahead will test them both.
And what they discover will change their lives forever.
Inspiration
The inspiration for The Battle for Identity came from reflecting on the quiet fears that often surface when stepping into parenthood for the first time. Many new parents wonder, Will I repeat the mistakes of my own parents? Am I strong enough to raise a child well? Those questions became the seed of Simon and Alice’s journey.
For Simon, the weight of his past shapes his fears. Negative experiences with his own father leave him uncertain about the kind of father he will become. For Alice, her blindness presents its own unique challenges. She finds herself asking, What kind of mother can I be when I cannot see the world my child will grow up in? Both wrestle with doubts that reach beyond parenting—into questions of identity, worth, and what truly defines us.
As I explored these themes, I was drawn to the tension between what we inherit from our past and the choices we make for the future. How much of who we are comes from where we come from? How much comes from faith, resilience, and grace? This story grew out of those questions, and out of the hope that even when our identities feel shaken or uncertain, God remains our anchor—the One who names us, knows us, and calls us His own.
